Changing Cell Phones Without Changing Your Carrier or Phone Number

0 comments | Post Comments

Many of our customers wonder how they can "upgrade", change, or get a new cell phone while keeping the same number, plan and carrier. This brief article explains the different options available to customers who would like to change or get a new cell phone and also when to do this to save the maximum amount of money.

Popular reasons for wanting to upgrade or change your cell phone:
1) Your cell phone has been damaged and you would like to replace it.
2) Your contract length is either completed or close to being completed.
3) Just want a newer or better phone.

Customers can upgrade or change their cell phones at any time. The issue that prevents them from doing this at any time is the cost. Getting phone X at one time could be free, while getting it at another time could cost you $200 or $300 dollars, or at another time it could cost you somewhere in between. In our explanation below, we will help you make the best choice at the best time to save you as much as possible.

Best Way to Upgrade or Change Your Cell Phone and Save

1) Customers with expired/completed contracts.
If your contract has finished, you have 2 options:
  1. Purchase a new phone and plan with another carrier - Many carriers nowadays offer similar plans, which means you can get a very similar plan with a brand new phone (many for free) and bring your number over for free as well. LowCostCells.com offers brand new plans and phones on all major carriers.

  2. Upgrade your existing plan, extend your contract and get a new cell phone - All carriers allow you to renew your contract once its term has been completed. Some wireless carriers allow you to upgrade/renew 2-3 months before the end of the contract. Contact your specific carrier and ask "When will I be eligible for upgrade?", if your carrier allows you to upgrade before the end of the contract, you should take advantage and renew. Important Note: You should absolutely upgrade/change your cell phone when renewing/upgrading your cell phone plan. You will get a good discount on the phone when upgrading during this time. If you do not change phones at the time of renewing your contract, later on you will not get any discount on another cell phone. You will have to pay full price, which can easily be hundreds of dollars. Currently, LowCostCells.com offers cell phone and plan upgrades for Sprint, Nextel and AT&T/Cingular.
2) Customers Already in an Existing Contract.
If you are already in a contract, then you have 1 and a possible 2nd option.
  1. Purchase a phone only - Customers already in a contract and nowhere near eligibility for an upgrade have the option to purchase just a cell phone without any plan. This is the most expensive option, but unfortunately for customers who want or need a new cell phone this is the only option.

  2. Find out when you will be eligible for upgrade. Purchasing a phone with a contract upgrade/renewal will cost you much less and therefore it is to your benefit to find out when you will be eligible for upgrade and take advantage of this option. If you find out you are just a few months away from being eligible for upgrade, it's worth it to wait rather than pay full price for a phone only.

3) Customers With Damaged/Broken Phones or Just Wanting a New Phone.
If your phone is damaged/broken or you just want a new phone then read above to see which other option you fall under. 1) In an expired contract, ready to renew. 2) In an existing contract, not eligible for upgrade.

These are the different options available to customers who want to get a new phone with the best solution and the least cost. Again to reiterate: 1) Get a brand new plan & phone with a different carrier 2) Upgrade your existing cell phone plan (must get new phone at time of renewing contract/upgrade). 3) Purchase just a phone or phone only with no contract plans.

LowCostCells.com sells new phones and plan contracts for T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint PCS, Nextel, Alltel and others. You can also renew your cell phone contract and get a brand new phone when upgrading your Sprint, Nextel or AT&T phone.

Text Messaging and Voice Plans

0 comments | Post Comments

Any plan that allows you to communicate through speech is considered a voice plan. When purchasing a cell phone, you must purchase a voice plan (unless it is a smartphone and you would like data only). Most consumer purchases are non-smartphones and hence all purchase voice plans. Data plans such as text messaging, are considered 'add-on' plans because they are added onto a voice plan. You cannot purchase a cell phone with just a text messaging plan. All add-on plans are on a month-to-month basis and do not require a contract.

All carriers allow you to send and receive text messages with just a voice plan and no text messaging plan. Carriers actually prefer this because they can charge more per message. If you rarely use text messaging and only text on a as needed basis, this is ideal, but for customers who text regularly and are heavily dependent on communicating through text messaging then the best way is to purchase a text messaging plan.

Text messaging plans, with all carriers, work by charging a specific amount per month and provide a specific number of messages to send/receive based on the monthly amount (The higher price per month, the more messages). These plans definately provide a better deal compared with text messaging without a plan.

Text Messaging and Multimedia Messaging
When purchasing a text messaging plan, make sure to look at the details to see what your plan offers. Some plans are strictly for sending text messages, while others called Multimedia Messaging can be used to send text, short tunes, pictures, videos etc..

All carriers have plans for text messaging and sending pictures and videos. Take advantage and text away! Feel free to comment on this article and also post your questions and views or helpful tips.

Getting More Than 2 Phones On a Cell Phone Family Plan

2 comments | Post Comments

Cell phone companies allow up to 5 lines on a family plan based on your credit eligibility and account standing. When purchasing a cell phone family plan through LowCostCells.com, you can take advantage of this and get up to 5 lines.

Two line family plans are extremely popular and most customers purchase 2 lines with a family plan. In order to purchase a 3rd, 4th or 5th line, browse through our site and click to purchase 'two phones with a family plan'. Once you have selected 2 phones to purchase, you will see an option to add more lines to that existing plan.

The price stated on our site is for two line cell phone family plans. You will find that phone prices are slightly higher for lines 3, 4 and 5. This does not mean you cannot get free phones, we have plenty of free phone choices for additional family plan lines. The reason phone prices are slightly higher for lines 3, 4 and 5 is because additional lines are considered an add-on to family plans and therefore are not eligible for rebates in most cases.

Additional lines on a family plan are available for just $9.99 per month for the new AT&T / Cingular, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless and Sprint PCS. Nextel offers additional lines on a family plan for $20.

Choose family plans from the following carriers:
AT&T Family Plans
T-Mobile Family Plans
Verizon Wireless Family Plans
Nextel Family Plans
Sprint PCS Family Plans
Alltel Family Plans
Disney Family Plans

0 comments | Post Comments

Can I get a free T-Mobile phone with an upgrade to my existing T-Mobile plan.

Currently, we do not have upgrade offers for T-Mobile plans. All our T-Mobile phones are sold with a new cell phone plan activation and our phone pricing with new plans is amazing. Currently, we offer cell phone and plan upgrades to AT&T, Sprint and Nextel customers only, as long as they are eligible for upgrade with their existing carrier.

Why You Should Purchase Your Cell Phone Through An Authorized Dealer

0 comments | Post Comments

Many customers ask and wonder what is the difference between purchasing their cell phone through us or going to an AT&T, Verizon or any other wireless carrier corporate store and purchasing through them. This article will explain what an authorized dealer does and also why an authorized dealer is the best option if you want to get the absolute best deal on your next cell phone.

A cell phone authorized dealer, like LowCostCells.com, is exactly that, a dealer that is authorized by wireless carriers to sell cell phones and plans. If you look at many different industries, you will notice that you do not go directly to the manufacturer to purchase the product or service. For example, if you purchase an automobile manufactured by Honda, you are not going directly to Honda's manufacturing facility or plant to purchase, you are visiting your local Honda dealer, which very very likely is not owned by Honda itself. In another example, when you purchase appliances, you go to your local consumer electronics store, not directly to the appliance manufacturer.

In the cell phone industry, products and services are distributed by the carrier itself through their corporate stores and also through authorized dealers. The cell phones and cell phone plans that you can purchase through a carrier corporate store, you can also purchase through an authorized dealer. Authorized dealers do not and can not have plans and features that are different from the carrier itself. The carrier comes out with new plans and features for all its distributors, whether they may be their own corporate stores or their authorized dealers.

The biggest difference between an authorized cell phone dealer and carrier corporate stores is the pricing of the phones. Some authorized dealers, like LowCostCells.com, provide phone pricing that is much much lower than the carrier itself. The wireless carrier has no say in how much its authorized dealers charge for the phone itself, just like how authorized dealers have no say over the cell phone plans and features introduced by the carrier. Many people do not realize this tremendous amount of benefit and savings over purchasing directly from the carrier.

To prove this point, you can look throughout our website and compare our cell phone prices with those of the carrier itself, you will be amazed and very surprised with the difference. Just a few examples (prices are from the time this post was written):

1) AT&T RIM BlackBerry Pearl Red
Price on LowCostCells.com:
$49.99 Up front, $50 Mail-In Rebate, Final Cost: $0.00 / FREE
Price on AT&T / Cingular Website:
$249.99 Up front, $100 Mail-In Rebate, Final: $149.99

You would save $150 if you purchase your cell phone through LowCostCells.com.

2) T-Mobile Motorola Razr V3t Black
Price on LowCostCells.com:
$0.00 Up front, $50 Mail-In Rebate, Final Cost: Free and you make $50. (Click here to read how you can buy a cell phone and make money). + Free Bluetooth Headset!
Price on T-Mobile Website:
$149.99 Up front, $50 Mail-In Rebate, Final Cost: $99.99.

You would save $100 if you purchase your cell phone through LowCostCells.com.

3) Verizon Wireless Motorola Razr KRZR K1m
Price on LowCostCells.com:
$99.99 Up front, $100 Mail-In Rebate, Final Cost: FREE
Price on Verizon Wireless Website:
$99.99 Up front, $0 Rebate, Final Cost: $99.99

You would save $100 if you purchase your cell phone through LowCostCells.com

These are just a few examples of how much you would save if you purchased your cell phone through an authorized dealer such as LowCostCells.com. We are positive and know for a fact that 99.9% of our prices are better than the carrier itself.

LowCostCells.com is an authorized cell phone dealer for the following carriers: AT&T Phones, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Sprint PCS, Nextel, U.S. Cellular, Alltel Wireless and Disney Mobile.
This article should have clarified your questions and concerns regarding purchasing from the carrier itself or through an authorized dealer. You can post any questions or comments through this post and we will gladly reply.
